What are the uses of Rubber Washer?

A Rubber Washer is a ring made of rubber used in mechanical devices. It is used to prevent vibration from spreading from one part to another, reducing the noise levels. Washer is flat rubber rings with center holes to accommodate fasteners or allow fluids to pass through. Rubber washers prevent leaks, protect surfaces, and dampen vibration in a variety of applications that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut. Other uses are as a spacer, spring (Belleville washer, wave washer), wear pad, preload indicating device, locking device, and to reduce vibration (rubber washer).

Washers often have an outer diameter (OD) about twice their inner diameter (ID), but this can vary quite widely. Washers are usually metal, Rubber or plastic. High-quality bolted joints require hardened steel washers to prevent the loss of pre-load due to brine ling after the torque is applied. Washers are also important for preventing galvanic corrosion, particularly by insulating steel screws from Aluminum surfaces. They may also be used in rotating applications, as a bearing. A thrust washer is used when a rolling element bearing is not needed either from a cost-performance perspective or due to space restraints.

Washers protect the surface from damage during installation. They distribute the pressure and prevent the fastener from moving or corroding. Skipping on washers can dramatically reduce the lifespan of how your product is put together.

When installed, washers shield the surface from harm. In addition to distributing pressure, they stop the fastener from moving and corroding. Skipping washers can significantly shorten the longevity of your product’s construction.
