Castle Half Nuts Fine Pitch Self-Colour DIN 979

  • Castle nuts or castellated nuts are named for their resemblance to the parapets of a castle
  • A split cotter pin is inserted through opposite slots and a pre-drilled hole in a stud to prevent movement
  • Ideal where vibration may undo the fixing
  • Used where it is imperative that the nuts remains in place, such as wheel hubs
  • The castle nut has a wasted shoulder and sizes M12 and above are supplied in this pattern
  • Sizes M10 and below are known as slotted nuts and are cut from a complete hexagon
