Square Spring Washers are used within applications where vibration is a concern. The washer compresses when the fastener is tightened which adds tension and slows the rate of loosening.

They are used to prevent vibratory loosening. They have a smaller outer diameter than Rectangular Section Spring Washers, so are well suited to Cap and Cheese Head fasteners.
